The Adopt-A-Book Program

Reasons to Adopt a Book

Adopting a book is a great way to share your love of books and reading while honoring or memorializing a special person, friend, parent, child, teacher, co-worker or volunteer.

How Your Donation is Used

When you adopt a book, 100% of your gift will be used to purchase books and materials. This allows the library to maintain a broad collection that meets the ever-changing needs of our community.

How the Adopt-A-Book Program Works

When you fill out the donor form, select a title or subject area that interests you or the person being honored, or have the library choose a book in an area that compliments the current collection.

The library will purchase the book and place a bookplate inside, noting the honoree and listing you as the donor, if you wish.

The library will send an acknowledgement of your gift to the person you are honoring, or any other person you designate.

Frequently Asked Questions

May I adopt a book if I do not wish to honor any person in particular?

Yes! Your adopted book can simply be a gift from you to the library.

May I make an anonymous adoption?

If you do not wish your name to appear in the book, the bookplate will read "Purchased through the Adopt-A-Book Program by a friend."

Is there a minimum donation?

While every donation is welcome to the library, participation in the Adopt-A-Book Program requires a minimum $20 donation to cover the cost of the book and processing materials.
