Circulation Policies

Check-out Limits

Books, magazines, audios, and CDs may be borrowed for three weeks. DVDs, videos, interlibrary loans and new books may be borrowed for two weeks. There is no limit on DVDs or videos. However, new DVDs are limited to 3 per card and may only be checked out for ONE WEEK.

Interlibrary Loans

Interlibrary loan (or ILL) is a free service provided to all Connecticut library patrons and allows a user in good standing to borrow materials from participating libraries throughout the state.

Renewals

Books, magazines, audios and cds may be renewed once for three weeks. Interlibrary loan materials may only be renewed once for two weeks. New books may only be renewed once for two weeks.
Renewals will not be allowed if there is a hold on the book.
Renewals may be made by phone, in person, or online.
No renewals are allowed on video tapes and DVDs.

Holds

Holds may be placed on items that are currently out in circulation. You may request a hold via the phone, email, or in person at either the main desk or children's department.

Fines

There will be a charge of 10 cents per day for overdue books, audios, cds and magazines in both the adult and children's department.

Video tapes and DVDs and Interlibrary loans will incur a 1 dollar fine per day.
There is a maximum fine of 3 dollars for books, magazines, audios, and cds.

There is a maximum fine of 5 dollars for dvds, videos and interlibrary loans.

Blocks on Card

Library cards may be blocked and unable to use by the patron due to outstanding fines, overdues, lost items and/or expired cards. Items to be checked out will be held for 3 days to allow the patron time to settle the account.

Other

Vacation loans are available on selected items.
