"Rocky Rocks" Page

"Hey Everybody! Rocky here. I have some new friends visiting for a short time in the Children's Room. They are called caterpillars that will turn into beautiful Monarch butterflies. Check them out!"

Picture 3: When it's time to turn into a chrysalis (to change into the butterfly), the caterpillar forms a "J" and hangs upside down.

Picture 4: The caterpillar inside his chrysalis. In about two weeks, he'll emerge as a Monarch butterfly. Date to be announced.

FAQS

Q: Rocky, what are you?

A: I am a gerbil. My average size is 4 to 5 inches (boy, I'm small). I am curious about everyone who comes into my Children's Room. I love to burrow, gnaw and play in tubes and in my little house.

Q: Where do you live?

A: I live in a glass cage where I have my water bottle and food always on hand. I'm so lucky! I even have a house inside my cage that I can sleep in (and I do...a lot!).

Q: What's your favorite food?

A: Almonds.

Q: What's your favorite thing to do?

A: I LOVE taking sand or dust baths. Doesn't everyone?

Q: What do you do for exercise and fun?

A: I enjoy exploring the Children's Room in my purple plastic ball. No throwing me!

Rocky Recommends

"These are just some of my favorite books that the library has. If you click on a picture of the book you'd like, you'll be able to see if it's checked in or not. If you would like to read any of them, ask Miss Vicki or Miss Pam to help you find them or put them on hold. I know you'll enjoy them as much as I do."
